Freedom of Speech Speech Pathologist Practice, Port Macquarie & Kempsey

Our friendly team is led by Karen Stevens, Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist.

Karen holds a B.Sp.Thy (Hons) and is a Member of Speech Pathology Australia. Karen works full-time at Freedom of Speech and believes strongly in empowering the community through information about communication difficulties. She always welcomes enquiries and is happy to give advice in any area of speech pathology. Karen has been a qualified speech pathologist since 1989, and has worked in hospitals, community health centres, disability and the private sector. Karen has been providing speech pathology services to all ages in the Hastings and Macleay since 1995, with specialties including stroke rehabilitation, autism spectrum disorders, voice disorders, auditory processing and learning difficulties.

Karen is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist, which requires speech pathologists to constantly update and extend their professional abilities, and also provides Professional Supervision on request to other Speech Pathologists in a range of areas.

When you walk through the door at Freedom of Speech, you'll be warmly greeted by our head of reception and administration, Julia.

Julia enjoys her job at reception as she gets to interact with regular and new clients. It is very rewarding to see how people learn and grow. Being new to the Speech Pathology industry Julia loves the challenge and learning something new every day.

Julia is an avid traveller - as visiting new places around the world is a great way to experience different people, cultures, customs and foods. Countries offer great architecture and nature. Some of her favourite places so far include Africa, England, Ireland, Scotland and New Zealand. Australia and Canada are on her bucket list! Her favourite animals are Meerkats, Sloths and, of course, our Aussie Wombats.
